Nevada Nuclear Test Site & Creech Drone Base, NV

The Nevada Desert Experience invites you to join them in Nevada to celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day. For those who can join a day early on October 8, Jeremiah Jones invites us to greet the sun rise with a traditional Western Shoshone ritual at the Nevada nuclear test site at dawn on Friday morning, October 9. Friday afternoon we will greet the day shift leaving Creech Air Force Base, the center for U.S. global drone warfare by remote control in Indian Springs, with a challenge to disobey illegal orders.

We will end our witness on Monday morning with nonviolent resistance at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) – U.S. nuclear test site – in Mercury. The NNSS, on land stolen from the Western Shoshone nation, is the most bombed place on earth as the primary testing location of American nuclear weapons, and is currently a key facility in the production of new generations of nuclear bombs.

We will be celebrating the desert and learning of the threats to its people and its creatures. Meals and simple accommodations will be provided. We will have time to sing, share food and stories, attend a powwow, create art, participate in traditional sweat lodge, attend Las Vegas’ annual Pride Parade, reflect, pray and to conspire for survival.
