Four anti-nuclear activists defied the state of emergency ban on public protest in Paris on Wednesday, December 2, climbing up the steel cables beneath the modern Arche de la Defense to hang banners. French environmentalists joined German climbers from the action group Robin Wood in the ascent as the COP 21 climate talks were underway. They first deployed small banners reading “Don’t Nuke the Climate – Stop EPR” (referring to the latest French reactor design). Police were quickly on the scene, including 20 from a specially equipped mountain brigade in town for the event. They pursued the climbers up the cables and prevented a larger banner from unrolling which would have proclaimed “System Change, Not Climate Change!”

PRISONERS FOR PEACE DAY AND GIVING TUESDAY!

Hi, friends,

Prisoners for Peace Day was established over 60 years ago by War Resisters’ International, to encourage people to write to conscientious objectors and others who are imprisoned because of their actions for peace.

Giving Tuesday, a global day dedicated to giving, was more recently established as a day for people to give to the non-profits of their choice, after the consumer frenzy of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

So please consider:

Soon after the Paris massacre, the war suppliers were primed to profit from the Agency’s mission that includes strengthening the European defense industry.

On the sidewalk just outside the barricaded, red carpet entrance to the meeting venue, about three dozen peace activists rolled out a red puddle of paint, disrupting the scene as they staged a bloody sit-in.

The No MUOS Movement makes it clear: “The site is vulnerable ‘

November 15, 2015

PALERMO – The MUOS, located near Niscemi, “one of the most important strategic sites of the U.S. armed forces, is vulnerable” and therefore “dangerous”. So writes the website of the Sicilian movement “No MUOS, ” hailing the action of their activist Turi Vaccaro, who last Thursday, evading the strict surveillance of U.S. soldiers and the police, managed to penetrate the military base in the area of Ulmo, climb one of the three radar dishes of the disputed system of satellite telecommunications, and sabotage it with a hammer, causing damage of close to 800 thousand euro.

Five activists, including two military veterans, were arrested at Beale Air Force Base in California early on the morning of Tuesday, October 20. They were protesting the use of drones by the U.S. around the world that are killing hundreds of civilians, including children. The base is home to surveillance drones which pick the targets for U.S. Predator drones.

The activists approached a main gate of the base to deliver a letter to the base commander calling for an end to the base’s involvement in drone warfare. The gate is the busiest entrance to Beale – protests in the past have backed up hundreds of cars miles outside the base.

On October 16, a group of anti-militarist activists impeded and disrupted the departure of a military convoy from the port of Sagunto, Spain due to be deployed in war maneuvers in the next few days by army units of more than 30 countries as part of the NATO exercise “Trident Juncture 2015”. Dressed in white overalls and pink reflective vests, the activists assembled at the dockside, where a cargo vessel with vehicles and arms was being unloaded in preparation for the live fire stage of the NATO military maneuver in San Gregorio (Zaragoza), Spain. While two activists stood in front of two tanks, two more activists rapidly chained themselves with lock-on tubes to the vehicles and cut off the road leading from the port area. Another two activists unveiled banners that read “War Stops Here” and “Sorry for the Inconvenience: Obstructing War Preparations”.
