On the weekend of May 16-17, 200-300 people gathered near Red Butte, or Wii’i Gdwiisa, birthplace of the Havasupai people, to protest the Pinyon Plain Mine, a uranium mine owned by Energy Fuels Resources, Inc. The highly radioactive uranium is hauled in open trucks across the Navajo Nation by Hammon Trucking.
During a rally on Sunday afternoon, May 17, protesters blockaded a uranium hauling truck headed toward the mine to be filled with uranium on Monday morning. They blockaded the truck for nearly an hour, piling rocks and logs under it, disabling its tires and damaging it so badly that it later needed to be towed away. The crowd retreated before enough police responded to remove them, so there were no arrests.

A protester who camped out atop one of Washington’s bridges for six days has come down, ending his stand against artificial intelligence and the US-Israeli war in Iran.
Guido Reichstadter, a Florida-based activist, was seen coming down on Wednesday from one of the arches of the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge where he had been camped since May 1.
His presence caused periodic traffic jams as Washington police closed lanes and negotiated with him.
Reichstadter climbed the 51-metre bridge on Friday before unfurling a black banner and setting up a tent.
Reichstadter’s X account showed photos from atop one of the arches where he had pitched a tent. He announced on the site on Tuesday that he would be coming down and expected to be arrested.

Peace whirlwind

Arriving at the Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) at 5:30 a.m. on April 27 went as planned for the Midwest Catholic Workers Retreat and Resistance. But nothing between our arrival and the receipt of tickets by nine line-crossers was ordinary. We showed signs and banners opposing nuclear weapons—parts for such weapons are made at the KCNSC, under the Department of Energy and the National Nuclear Security Administration.
Shortly after our arrival, the wind and rain picked up. Then the tornado warning sirens began. Patrick Kelly, a security guard at Honeywell, which operates this NNSA plant, advised me to take cover. I asked our fellow resisters and supporters to go back to their cars and sit tight.

At noon on Monday, April 20, our Executive Director Mike Prysner and CCW client Tyler Romero were arrested alongside over 60 veterans and military family members, some with loved ones deployed to the Middle East, in a civil disobedience action at the Cannon Rotunda on Capitol Hill demanding “No War on Iran”.
Prysner spent 4 years in the Army and served in the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Romero spent 7 years in the Navy as a corpsman, and worked with CCW to file as a Conscientious Objector in 2025.

Mid-morning on April 11, 47-year-old Daithí O’Corrain entered an unauthorized area of Ireland’s Shannon Airport, climbed up on the wing of a U.S. military plane and began to disarm the aircraft by hitting the wing and fuselage with a hand tool, reportedly a hatchet.
The U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules transport plane was parked on a remote taxiway. Airport police officers, gardai (Irish police), the airport’s fire and rescue service and members of the defense forces on duty at the airport quickly responded to the incident, and the airport suspended operations for under 30 minutes.

On Wednesday, April 8, 15 activists with Shut Down Drone Warfare blocked the entry road to Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, holding two banners reading “Refuse Illegal Orders” and “Drone Pilots Refuse to Fly!”. They were protesting the U.S. war on Iran, Lebanon, and Gaza genocide. After about 15 minutes, when officers approached to arrest them, some of the activists laid down on the roadway. Toby Blome refused to get up when asked to and was carried away. Dylan Davis and Jonah Holguim stood up when asked and were accompanied off the road.
While the traffic was halted, Nick Mottern and Matt Dodson walked along the stopped cars offering flyers that explained the reasons for the action and opposition to the drone killing program. Although they were not on base property, they were also subsequently arrested.

On Good Friday, April 3, about 200 people gathered at Lockheed Martin in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Over two dozen people were arrested while praying in the road leading into the weapons manufacturer’s facility.

Yesterday, a couple hundred of us gathered outside the world’s largest weapons contractor, Lockheed Martin. On Good Friday, when Christians around the world remember the suffering and death of Jesus, we also remembered the victims of violence today. We read the names of the children killed in Iran, in Gaza, in detention centers and on the border. It was a holy, powerful day. And over two dozen of us were arrested as we prayed and read the names of the victims. More details coming soon… thanks to all who participated. Early in the morning of April 7, peace protestors in England used heavy-duty locks to attach themselves to a large multi-coloured peace symbol, a car and each other, completely blocking the main gates of RAF Lakenheath for six hours. A second gate into RAF Lakenheath was also shut down by peace campaigners for four hours.
Fourteen people were arrested.

The main gates of Lakenheath airbase in Suffolk, England were shut down for three hours on April 4 and two people arrested. Hundreds of protestors from around the country took action against the U.K.’s involvement in illegal wars and the return of nuclear weapons to the base.
Speaking at the time of her arrest about the war on Iran, one of the peace campaigners said: “Over 600 schools and over 300 medical facilities have been targeted. I cannot do anything but take action against this illegal war”.
