Arrests, injuries during forcible removable from S. Korean protest camps

On June 11, residents of Miryang, South Korea were removed from four protest camps along with their supporters, including priests and nuns.  Protests against the construction of 161 power transmission towers to distribute electricity from the Gori nuclear power plant have been going on since 2007.  Some protesters were injured and arrested as they actively resisted the 2,000 police officers who forcibly removed them and destroyed their huts.

Activists arrested during drone and nuclear weapon protests in Missouri

On Saturday, May 31, Georgia Walker and Ethan Hughes were arrested for trespass at the old Kansas City nuclear weapons parts plant.  They joined others at a protest that day to demand comprehensive cleanup of about 900 known toxins at the site. Two of Walker’s aunts were among those who have died as a result of exposure to the contaminants at the federal complex. The following day, June 1, Walker and Kathy Kelly crossed the line at Whiteman Air Force Base near Knob Noster, Missouri to protest drone warfare, carrying loaves of bread to share with Air Force personnel. The women were arrested for trespass.  Killer drones are guided by remote control from Whiteman Air Force Base.
