NATIONAL CALL IN DAY FOR PRISONER OF CONSCIENCE RAFIL DHAFIR

MONDAY, AUGUST 4 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST

On June 18th Dr. Dhafir was removed to a special housing (isolation) unit. The purpose of the national call in day is to get the warden to return Dr. Dhafir to the general population.

 Background:

Dr. Rafil Dhafir, a United States citizen, oncologist, humanitarian and spiritual leader, has served 12 years of a 22-year sentence for breaking the horrifically cruel U.S. and U.K. sponsored U.N. sanctions on Iraq which caused the death of 500,000 children under the age of 5 and 1,000,000 others. Dr. Dhafir gave aid through a charity he established to help children and adults in Iraq who were starving or sick from fallout from depleted uranium munitions and the lack of fresh water.

Support Committee search for lawyer:

The Dr. Dhafir Support Committee is searching for a criminal lawyer to submit pro bono, on behalf of Dr. Dhafir, his last remaining legal remedy, a 2255 motion, partly on grounds of ineffective trial counsel. The deadline for this is early November of 2014. His former appeal lawyer, Peter Goldberger, will make available all pertinent legal background. Peter has exhaustively appealed Rafil’s case through the three tiers of the federal court system without the courts shaving a day off his sentence.
